Pregnancy is such a special time, and maternity photos are a wonderful way to capture the beauty of this journey. At Little Life Studio, I love helping moms feel comfortable and radiant in front of the camera. If you’re planning your maternity session, here are some helpful tips to make the most of your experience!
1. Schedule Your Session at the Right Time
The best time for maternity photos is between 28 and 34 weeks. By this stage, your baby bump is beautifully round, but you’re still comfortable enough to move around with ease.
2. Choose the Perfect Outfit
Flowy dresses, fitted gowns, or even a classic bodysuit can highlight your bump beautifully. Soft, neutral tones or pastels photograph well, but don’t be afraid to choose colors that make you feel amazing. If you’re unsure, I can always guide you to the best options!
3. Pamper Yourself Before the Session
A little self-care goes a long way! Consider getting your hair and makeup done for an extra confidence boost. Even a simple manicure can make a difference in close-up shots of your hands resting on your belly
4. Bring Meaningful Props
Ultrasound photos, baby shoes, or a special stuffed animal can add a personal touch to your session. These small details make your photos even more special.
5. Include Your Partner or Older Siblings
Maternity sessions aren’t just about celebrating your baby bump—they’re about celebrating your growing family. If you’d like, your partner or other children can join in for some heartwarming moments.
6. Relax and Enjoy the Moment
It’s natural to feel a little nervous in front of the camera, but I’ll guide you every step of the way! My goal is to capture the connection between you and your baby in a way that feels natural and beautiful.
A Special Session Close to My Heart
The images in this post are from a beautiful mama who is expecting her second baby. I had the honor of photographing her first pregnancy, her first newborn session, and now her second maternity session. Watching families grow and being able to document these milestones is such a blessing—one of the most rewarding parts of what I do.
